Amadou Hott is a seasoned executive with over 25 years of experience in economic policy, development finance, and investment banking. He holds degrees in applied mathematics, economics, and financial markets.
Hott served as Senegal’s Minister of Economy, Planning and Cooperation (2019–2022), playing a key role in maintaining economic stability during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also acted as Sherpa to the President of Senegal for the Paris Summit on Financing African Economies.
He represented the African Union at G20 Development, Finance Ministers, and Central Bank Governors meetings in Indonesia, as well as at G7 Development Ministers meetings, advocating strongly for the AU’s seat at the G20. As Minister, he also served as a Governor of the World Bank and several regional development banks.
Previously, Hott was the African Development Bank’s first Vice President for Energy, Climate Change and Green Growth, and founding CEO of FONSIS, Senegal’s sovereign fund. He later served as Special Envoy for the Alliance for Green Infrastructure in Africa. In 2012, the World Economic Forum named him a Young Global Leader.
